Bringing Musical Creativity to our Community Since 1999!

Music House is a music school offering private lessons for children and adults. We teach piano, electric, acoustic and classical guitar, electric bass, theory and composition. We are conveniently nestled within the Bloor West Village/Baby Point Gates/Old Mill areas of Toronto, a two-minute walk from Jane Subway Station. There’s also plenty of parking on Jane Street (during non-rush hour times) if you’re not quite within walking distance.

At Music House, we believe that a well-rounded educational experience should be made complete with music! While some students come for their first musical experiences, to keep their minds and bodies active, or to prepare for a specific goal, many of our students stay for the sheer enjoyment of playing an instrument. We are happy to accept beginners, advanced students, and anything in between, as well as youngsters, adults, and seniors. We also have experience accommodating students who have special needs. We happily welcome all students to our school and will create an individualized program to suit your musical needs.

Our facilities include two acoustic pianos, one 5’6” totally rebuilt Heintzman baby grand, and one rebuilt studio-sized Heintzman upright, our “gold” piano. We also have a harpsichord and a prepared piano for use on special occasions.

In addition to offering private lessons, we now have a terrific new program, The Music Garden at Music House, geared for infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children. See our News link for more information about this new program!

Recitals

We hold two recitals each year. Our December concert is a charity event where students and their families suggest a local charity to which they’d like to donate, one that is meaningful to them. These events are held in order to give back to our community. We have held fundraiser recitals for Covenant House, Gilda’s Club of Greater Toronto, The Alzheimer’s Society of Toronto, and Cystic Fibrosis Canada. These events are free for students, and all proceeds go directly to the nominated charity for the year. Our recitals offer plenty of variety, from the latest popular music hits to more classical repertoire. While some students play songs from their method books, others play classical pieces, their own compositions, or popular music in pick-up bands. Many of our students enjoy singing and playing at the same time!

Music Theory at Music House

Having trouble with music theory? We make theory fun and work it into most lessons through improvisation and written work. Thinking about signing up for a theory exam? Most of our students proudly come home from exam with results in the First Class Honours and First Class Honours with Distinction standings with the Royal Conservatory of Music. Our students have also had many successes with the RCM’s practical examinations. We’re very proud of them!

Contact us today at lessons@musichousetoronto.ca for a tour of our studios, a meet-the-teacher session, and for more information about our programs. We look forward to hearing from you.
